Placed in a garden or hung from a rope, this piece makes a beautiful addition to any outdoor space. The modern design adds style and a pop of color.
The hole is the perfect size for a hummingbird, and the red color attracts them. This piece was crafted on the potter's wheel with white porcelain and hand-glazed.
The colors were painted onto the piece using "majolica" [MY-AL-ICK-KUH] glazing technique. In this technique, I apply white glaze to the piece and let it dry. Once dry, I mix ceramic powdered stain with water and paint the designs onto the piece. The powder and water acts in a similar way to watercolor. Once dry, the piece is glazed fired to make the designs permanent and durable.
